Zubaidi Season Calendar in Kuwait: Month by Month

The Zubaidi season in Kuwait does not switch on and off. It builds month by month. Some months the water is still warm and the fish are far out; other months the water cools and they move in close. Read the calendar and you know when to launch and when to stay home.

How the Season Moves Through the Year

• September to October — warm water, a light start on the deeper marks.
• November to December — the water cools, Zubaidi move closer, numbers climb.
• January to February — the core of the season and your best shot at bigger fish.
• March to April — fish still around, fading slowly as the water warms.
• May to August — rest, with Zubaidi back out in deep water.

September to November: The Build-Up

September is the quietest month for Zubaidi. The water is still hot and the fish are far, so use it to service the boat and test new ground.

• September — 30 metres and deeper, few fish, night beats day.
• October — the first real signs once the seasonal winds settle; lighten the weight and work close to the bottom.
• November — the season opens, fish move into 15 to 25 metres, and fresh shrimp is the top bait.

December to February: The Core of the Season

This is when the cold sets in and Zubaidi are at their best. They take the bait gently, so patience matters more than speed.

• December — night sessions give better sizes, and a lighter line makes a real difference.
• January — the coldest water of the year and your best chance at a big fish; watch for strong northerlies.
• February — numbers are still good, but the weather swings, so keep the trip plan flexible.

March and April: The Gradual Fade

As warmth returns, Zubaidi drift back to deeper water. Numbers drop, though sizes can still be decent.

• March — the decline starts and the productive depth moves back to 25 to 35 metres.
• April — the last window; an evening session is enough, no need to fish all night.

May to August: Off Season

In the peak heat Zubaidi give you very little: hot water, fish deep. Use these months to learn species, log your marks and try new areas. What to Watch Every Month

• Water temperature — more important than the date; cooler water brings Zubaidi in.
