Summer Beaches: Crowds and Planning

B7R Blog

Summer in Kuwait means the beach, and everyone knows a weekend at the shore is less a relaxing outing than a logistics exercise: parking, crowds, sun, and children who move faster than you can turn your head. A little planning before you leave decides whether you come home rested or irritated.

Arrive Early

The first rule has no exceptions: get there early. The gap between eight and ten in the morning is enormous, and not only for parking. Early arrivals choose their spot; late arrivals accept what is left and then negotiate for it.

With small children, an early start also means you set up before the sun gets serious, so the work happens while you are still fresh instead of while you are fighting the heat. Check the tide and sea state in the B7R app the night before, because a high morning tide shrinks the usable beach and pushes everyone onto the same narrow strip.

Pick a Spot With an Exit and Real Shade

Do not take the first empty patch you see. Look for the way out: a clear path back to the car that you could walk quickly if you had to, and not a slot wedged behind other families' camps. Shade matters too, but it has to be real shade that lasts past noon, not a thin strip that vanishes before it.

Leave space between you and the next group. People came out for a good day, and they do not need your music or the smell of your food.

Parking Etiquette and Room for Others

Parking is where the crowding turns ugly. Do not block an entrance, do not park anyone in, and do not stop across a lane other cars need. If the lot is tight, drop your gear at the beach and move the car instead of holding up the line.

The short version of all of it: behave the way you want the people next to you to behave.

Keeping Kids in Sight

A crowd is more dangerous to children than the water is, because a child who wanders between tents will not find the way back easily. Agree on a meeting point they can identify, and make your camp recognisable from a distance.

Keep them in sight, not merely nearby. If several families are out together, assign who is watching and when, instead of everyone assuming someone else is doing it.

Midday Sun and Other People's Privacy

Avoid the peak hours, roughly noon to late afternoon, and use that window for eating and resting in the shade. Water and cooling are not luxuries at that hour.

Privacy is the part people forget. No music blasted across the sand, and no drone hovering over other families. People came out for a quiet day with their families, and a drone overhead ruins it even when you mean no harm. Headphones beat a big speaker every time.

And pack light, because you are carrying all of it back:

Leave the beach cleaner than you found it and take everything you brought.

Before you head out, check the sea in the B7R app: tide times for Shuaiba and Shuwaikh ports, sea state, a fish guide, a catch log, seasons, navigation tools and an SOS button for emergencies. It is free on Google Play: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.q8dm.b7r
