One boat leaves Shuwaikh at six, another leaves Shuaiba at six, and the two skippers disagree about the tide. Both are right. The ports sit on the same coastline, but they do not share a tide timing or a tide range, and that difference decides whether you clear the channel or wait an hour on the slipway.
Shuwaikh sits inside Kuwait Bay, which is a nearly enclosed arm of water with a narrow entrance and shallow flats. Shuaiba faces the open coast, with nothing to slow the water down. When a body of water is confined, it takes longer to fill and empty, and that alone produces a lag in timing and a difference in range.
Water does not move through the bay as one block. It enters at the mouth, then spreads across a wide shallow area, reaching the inner edges after it has already arrived outside. In practice, high water at Shuwaikh typically arrives after high water at Shuaiba, with the gap ranging from a few minutes to half an hour or more depending on the tide cycle and the wind.
Treat that as behaviour, not a fixed number. Spring and neap tides do not behave identically, and a strong northwest wind can push water in or hold it back and shift the timing by up to an hour. Real figures change daily, so nobody should hand you a minute-precise offset and call it official.
Timing is half the story. A wide shallow bay can amplify the difference between high and low water on some days, giving a larger range than the open coast shows. Shape and volume also work the other way at times, so Shuwaikh is not always the bigger range, and on some tides it is the smaller one.
The practical result is the same either way: the water level at the hour you plan around is not the same at both places, even on the same day.
Shuwaikh and Shuaiba do not share timing or range, and they should not be treated as one point on the chart. The B7R app gives you tide times for each port separately, alongside sea state, so you can compare before you move instead of discovering the difference while parked at the channel mouth.
