Kuwait's water does not hand you everything at once. Some months belong to zubaidi, some to kingfish, and a few are so hot the only sensible trip starts after sunset.
April and May, then October and November, are the family months. The air is mild, the water is swimmable and the days are long. In late April the heat starts to bite, so bring shade and extra water for the kids.
June through August flip the schedule. Daytime trips are not worth it, so everything moves to the evening. Night fishing works well then because the water cools slightly and fish come up to feed. The risk is the bwarikh — dry summer northwesterlies that kick up in the afternoon and can turn the sea fast. Never take a small boat out when the horizon looks dusty.
Before any trip, check sea state and tide times for Shuaibah and Shuwaikh in the B7R app. That is usually the difference between waiting an hour and launching into a mess.
From November to February, zubaidi owns the calendar. It moves in as the water cools and peaks in January. Hamour is active over the same stretch, and the bigger fish show up more reliably in the cold.
The catch is that winter is not calm. The shamal hits hard and rain discolours the water. Do not launch a small boat into a wind warning, and keep a return plan instead of waiting for the sea to lie down.
Kingfish arrive in two pushes: October–November and March–April. Hamra follows the same transitions, waiting for the water to cool off after summer.
Freediving visibility is best from September to November, once dust and plankton settle out. Remember the water is still warm in September, and long dives tire you faster than you expect.
Failaka, Kubbar and Bubiyan suit camping from October through March. A night on an island is worth the effort, but a sudden shamal can flatten a tent — stake it properly and pack a warm layer.
August and September are maintenance months. The heat and humidity kill trips anyway, so use the time: change the oil, check the battery and lines, and wash the salt off the hull.
Log every trip in the fishing log inside the app so that a year from now you know which month produced best at a given spot. The fish guide helps you confirm a catch before you decide to keep or release it.
Whether you are planning zubaidi in January or kingfish in October, the app is free on Google Play, with navigation tools and an SOS button for whatever you did not plan for. Download the B7R app on Google Play and start mapping out your year.
