Marine forecasts are not complicated. They are a short list of numbers that tell you what the sea is about to do. Most boaters in Kuwait skim everything at once and still feel unsure. Read it in the same order every time and the whole thing takes under a minute.
Start with wind speed. Wind lifts the waves and decides whether the trip is worth it. Then check wind direction, because it matters as much as the number itself. Next comes wave height. Last are the tide times for the port you launch from.

Wind speed is measured in knots, and one knot is roughly one nautical mile per hour. Forecasts usually give an average, and sometimes add a gusting figure for the peaks. That gap matters: an average of 12 knots with gusts to 20 gives you a completely different sea.
Direction matters as much as the number: the north wind in Kuwait turns the sea quickly.
Sea state is sometimes described in words: calm, slight or moderate. Numbers in metres are clearer. A wave height of roughly half a metre means a soft ride, one metre starts to bother small boats, and anything over a metre and a half needs an experienced hand.
Remember that waves do not only come from today's wind. They can arrive from a storm far away. The wind can be light this morning while the sea is still up from yesterday's north wind, and that is the part most people miss.
