One rule first: the sea answers to tides, wind, and weather. Treat these windows as a general guide and always check the forecast before you go.
Kuwaiti winters are cold, January is the coldest month, and strong north winds can rough up the sea. This is prime time for serious anglers, not casual family trips. Zubaidi shows up in December and peaks mid-winter. Shaeri joins in from February, and hamour (grouper) bites year-round but feeds harder in the cold.
Skip days with strong north winds, especially in a small boat. Ask about sea conditions and stay close to the coast.
Spring is the best season on Kuwait's water. The air is mild, the sea calms down, and underwater visibility clears up after winter. Shaeri and sbeitiy bite well, and this is when boat trips and diving open up. May turns warmer, but the sea stays good, especially at dawn.
Spring suits families too. Leave early and come back before noon for the best day out. Early spring diving needs a wetsuit; by late spring the water is warm and the reefs are clear.
Qaiz starts in June. Temperatures push past 45°C, and swimming, jet skiing, and boating become the main pastimes. The best windows are dawn trips that end before 10 AM, or evening runs after 4 PM. Summer diving runs from June, with warm water and great visibility off the reefs.

October cools things down, and the shrimp season is in full swing, especially after the official opening, usually in early September. Shrimp trips run at night and need strong lights and patience — the catch is worth it. By late November, the winter fish start showing again.

Eid al-Fitr 2026 is expected around March and Eid al-Adha around late May; both windows are ideal for family trips in mild weather. December to February is too cold for swimming but great for fishing. The best family windows are March–May and October–November, plus summer mornings before the sun gets harsh.
