Holidays and Peak Boat Traffic on the Water

B7R Blog

In Kuwait, holidays and seasons set the rhythm of the water. The first days of Eid, the spring break, and any mild Thursday or Friday bring everyone out at once. It is a good thing, but it also means crowded marinas, long ramp queues, and plenty of people rushing to launch. The crowds are not the danger by themselves โ€” the mistakes made because of them are.

Why So Many Boats Launch on the Same Day

Holidays fall on a limited number of days. Eid is the peak, the spring season brings camping and sea trips together, and any weekend with light wind turns into a rush. Most people are chasing the same conditions: calm air and moderate waves. The result is that a ramp you know well can hold dozens of boats at the same moment.

The Ramp and Marina Rush

The launch ramp and the marina are where the pressure shows most. Queues grow, waiting wears on the nerves, and people skip their pre-launch checks to save time. Do not do that. Check the boat before you reach the ramp, get the gear and life jackets ready while you are away from the crowd, and keep the launch quick and orderly.

Staying Safe on Crowded Water

The more boats there are, the more chances of close calls. Check the B7R app for sea state and tide times at Shuwaikh and Shu'aybah ports, and avoid the moments when the tide turns, because boats tend to gather near channels and openings then.

Keep a safe distance and watch the wake of large boats. A big vessel can throw a sharp wave, and passing it too close or too fast can unsettle you and the smaller boats behind you. Slow down in crowded areas, and keep the horn and radio for the minimum needed, with short, clear signals instead of shouting across the water. On board, keep your eyes on the kids: properly sized life jackets, a set position on the boat, and constant supervision โ€” crowds distract adults fast.

Plan the Return Before Sunset

The return is the busiest time of all. Everyone heads back near sunset, so the ramp and the harbour queue up. Leave the water half an hour to an hour before dark, especially if the ramp is unfamiliar, because the light drops and visibility fades after a long day.

The B7R app is useful for planning here, and its SOS button is there if something goes wrong while you are far from shore. If the weather turns or the crowd becomes too much, going back early is a smart call, not a retreat.

The B7R app is free on Google Play, with sea state, tide times, a fish guide, and a catch log, and the team keeps improving it with user feedback. Download it here: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.q8dm.b7r and always put safety first.
