The highest tides in Kuwait are not random. They cluster in particular stretches of the year, and when they arrive they test everything tied to the shore: docks, mooring lines, ramps and low beaches. Knowing roughly when to expect them is what keeps a weekend from turning into a repair list.

When the Highest Tides Tend to Come

Highest tides follow the moon and sun cycle, so they return on a repeating pattern through the year rather than on one scattered date. Wind sits on top of that. A long spell of wind from the north can hold water up around the bay or push it away, which is why the shoreline level can sit higher than a table alone suggests.

Treat the calendar as a general pattern, then check your own tide times close to the day and read sea state alongside them.

What High Water Does to Docks and Moorings

• Mooring lines: a line set bar tight has no give, so rising water loads cleats and rings hard.
• Fixed docks: a higher than usual level can submerge a low deck or bring it level with the water.
• Stored boats: leave enough slack for the hull to rise smoothly as the water climbs.
• Ramps: the angle shifts through the day, so the return pull feels different from the launch.
• Low beaches: anything left near the waterline needs to move up before the peak.

Avoiding Damage and Bad Tying

Most damage does not come from the water, it comes from a line that refuses to move. When a line is rigid, the boat stays put while the water climbs, and the load lands on fittings that were never built to take it. Leave a controlled amount of slack, use a setup that will not chafe, and check the boat as the tide turns.

Bad tying is worse than no tie at all. Never rig a boat so it cannot float up and down freely, and never leave a line that drags something along the dock as the water drops. Inspect cleats, rings and the ground before the season and again through it.

A Short Routine Before a High Tide

When you know a high level is coming, raise anything close to the water, add slack to the lines, check the ramp and cover openings that let water in. Do not work alone on a shoreline you do not know, and let someone on shore know you are working near the water.

Then write it down: date, level and what happened at the berth. After a few seasons your own notes beat any table, because they come from your own stretch of shore.
