Best Times of Day for Fishing in Each Season

B7R Blog

Every angler knows some hours produce and some do not. The mistake is fixing one clock time for the whole year. In Kuwait the dawn and dusk windows slide with the seasons, summer heat pushes fish off the flats at midday, and winter opens a much wider daytime window. Above all: moving water beats the hour on the clock.

Moving water matters more than the clock

Fish feed with the current because the current carries food. The half hour either side of a tide change is usually stronger than any fixed hour of the day. So build the plan from the tide first, then pick the window that puts moving water inside dawn or dusk. If the change lands at midday, fish it before you write the day off.

Summer: very early or after sunset

In high summer the sun heats the shallows fast, and fish move off the flats and go quiet through the middle of the day. The practical window runs from first light to about 7 a.m., then activity returns from around 5:30 p.m. to sunset and the first hour after. The evening session is cooler and calmer, but the run home in the dark needs more attention.

Winter: the widest window of the year

Winter sun is gentler and the water cooler, so fish stay active for longer through the day. You can launch after sunrise and fish into the afternoon, and on calm days the window stretches further. Dawn is still strong, but there is no need to leave in the dark in a hard northerly just to be on the water at first light. Check the sea state first.

Spring and autumn: transition periods

In spring and autumn the temperature swings from day to day, and fish move between deep and shallow with water temperature and wind. These are the best weeks to try new ground, because activity is not compressed into a two-hour window. Watch the wind: the first calm day after a run of strong northerlies is worth taking.

A practical hour guide

These ranges are approximate and shift with sunrise and sunset, so treat them as a frame, not an appointment. The hours only pay off when they line up with moving water.

Nothing guarantees a bite at a given hour, and no app can promise fish. What you can do is load the odds in your favour. B7R keeps the seasons and the fish guide in one place, so planning the next trip takes minutes instead of guesswork.
