An anchor line rarely snaps clean. It parts at the weakest point after weeks of chafe, a rock edge, or the strain of a rough day. What matters is that you already know the order of moves.
Check sea state and tide times for Shuwaikh and Shuaiba ports before you go out, so a break is one surprise instead of three.
The moment the line goes, your boat drifts with current and wind. That is the most dangerous part, because you can drift into another boat, a reef, or a buoy.
Do not coil the loose line onto the engine โ it can wrap around the propeller and stall you.
Once you are holding position, save the coordinates where the line parted. That helps if you come back for the anchor, and it tells you where you stopped.

This comes down to depth and risk. The anchor may be hooked on a small rock, or buried in deep mud you cannot work by hand.
If you cut it loose, secure the bitter end inside the boat so the trailing line cannot foul the propeller.
Most small boats carry a second, folding anchor. In strong wind and current, add chain before the rope and let out more scope โ seven times the depth in calm water, four in a blow. Too little scope lifts the anchor and it will not set.
Make sure the bitter end is tied to a strong point, not just wrapped around a rail. The secured end saves you when the anchor loads up.
A common and dangerous mistake is running the anchor line off the stern. If the current or a swell loads it, the stern digs in and water comes over the back. Anchor from the bow, always, so the bow lifts to the waves.
Lines wear from rubbing on rails, rocks, and Kuwait's harsh sun. Inspect before every trip: run the rope through your hands and look for soft, stiff, or frayed sections. If it looks glazed or feels brittle, cut it back and re-tie.
The anchor is not gear you ignore โ it is what holds you when everything else moves. Get the B7R app for sea state, tide times at Shuwaikh and Shuaiba, a fish guide and catch log.
